Reason #7 - Streaming provider tracking - I think this is a weak argument to be honest. I have discovered more artists/albums I would have never heard of were it not for the algorithims (eg. Spotify radio).

Still don´t know what to think about it. I understand the excitement and all with a dedicated dolby atmos setup, but i still don´t think it´s neccessary for music tbh. To me it´s as he said. Forcefully seperating instruments to put them in one location just doesn´t seem natural to me. Especially older albums have never been made with any kind of surround sound in mind. And how good can a Atmos mix be if it´s mixed down to stereo anyways? Why not make the recording itself be that spatial and exciting, we don´t need a proprietary format for that? I mean sure a proper home theatre setup will definitely sound great but the vast majority of people listen to music through bluetooth headphones, bluetooth speakers or some sort of dumb soundbars. Neither of those is capable of producing proper surround sound.

I had ordered the Quad Artera Solus Play. I really liked the sound quality when I listened in the store. However, these videos learned me about the clunky Play-Fi. So I canceled the order, and went for the Lingdorf 1120 instead. That was a good move. I really like the lingdorf forthe sound quality and the clunky Play-fi woud have irritated me to the end.

Stick to the original CD. It sounds fantastic and easily available used. Also, Stop Making sense was recorded digitally

The price tag of those speakers indicates the downfall of the united kingdom. Not worth the money for just a pair of 70w active speakers

Atmos is a blind alley designed purely to make money out of the gullible , it’s the equivalent of 3D tv , manufactures just want to sell more stuff ! Don’t waste your money or the planet !

Does the Sony phone have a Walkman app or equivalent where you can load your own music? I found even over Bluetooth, the flac files sound much smoother and clearer as it probably bypasses the Android core audio mixer/resampler I also found that they Walkman has amazing eq and dsp processing that makes my AirPods Pro sound better that they do on my iPhone!

Let me tell you that I'm waiting for my Wiim pro plus to arrive home. Still I'm using my ps3 for streaming Spotify premium. It still sounds fenomenal with ny vintage Tannoy speakers and my Yamaha amplifier. I really doubt that wiim pro will sound better than my Sony playstation3. I wish it will to justify my buying. Sony stopped giving Spotify servers for this old machine a few months ago but anyway it keeps working with a completely dark screen and using my cellphone Spotify app syncro with ps3. I use ps3 analog output. So I will use wiim pro plus rca output too. I can't wait

In the developer options LDAC's adaptive behaviour can be changed to 'optimised for audio quality', so it stays at 990-900kbps. Annoyingly this one setting resets itself when disconnecting. But it's only a few taps, I got used to it.

When I sit amongst my 10 speakers in my home cinema, there is nothing to it. You literally sit under a sound dome. Atmos is NOT for earphones, it's for the wide space.

Darko, some of us, are forced in audio shops to purchase expensive devices and so i am sitting with Atom Uniti by Naim that is fantastic streamer for qobuz and tidal if you wanted those two but, i am really longing for Apple music and have no idea how to implement this into it. Ok roon and audirvana are never allow also to play it and the only way is the 3rd parties. Now, i really would like to carry on using naim since i love dac inside, but have no clue how. I have tried with my integrated amp by Rotel Michi x3 and cable going to my ipad but not sustainable, also Naim dac is better then michi. Please advise anything on this. 😊

Ehhh, to say that you have the same problem with stereo that you have with Atmos is in my opinion dodging the real question. Instead of mixing and mastering 2 channels for two speakers you now have multiplied the complexity with potentially numerous speakers and multiple channels where there is no standard if how many speakers a user has.

100% agree. btw it is a great time for music lovers. it's easy to discover and stream a new album a day and buy a record per week. however, there are fewer of us than we think. i know maybe 3 or 4 in my circle of friends and they have turned me on to so much music. you need at least one friend like that. yes it's true that the majority of people listen to the same 10 albums they got in high school. however! if someone exposes them to interesting music and they might get the music bug too ;)

Love the content of this 'show'. One thing to keep in mind... phone makers want to reduce the number of openings. So it makes sense to remove the headphone jacks. That said... I agree with you about using IEMs and headphones w my iPhone. Bluetooth IEMs have a limited life and are expensive to constantly replace every couple of years. So at a minimum using the iPhone USB to headphone adapter that has a DAC chip in it... $9.00+tax is not a bad thing. I know from your reviews you love the Mojo2. If you had $1000 USD to spend. Do you buy better IEMs and a lesser DAC or do you go w the Mojo2 and then get lesser IEMs?

Without sounding stupid if I’m using a spare Android phone with Apple Music app streaming via Chromecast to my CXNv2 (as an example) won’t this at least support up to 24/96? Just wondering. Can’t tell from the Android as it doesn’t show bitrate or file format.

I have a 5k Marantz, Emotiva & Focal 5.1.5 Dolby Atmos system. For me its not that good having a guitar or saxophone coming out behind me. It feels like the music industry got together and said how do we sell the same music to the idiots again ? I know we'll take a leaf out of the movie industry who sold us the same movies in video, DVD, blu-ray and now 4k. We'll do the same start with Atmos and see how we go. I like my music in stereo, thats how its presented live and thats how it sounds best. I can live without somebody playing a triangle above my head.

I was once an Atmos sceptic, now I own an Atmos recording studio. I built it for under $5,000. Only audiophiles think they need to spend $300k that's crazy. If the equipment is good enough to mix stereo it's good enough for Atmos fr 💯

Hi Darko I have a LG 8 with quad dac listening to Amazon hd thru 3.5 headphone jack. Does this phone down sample like other android phones ? It sounds great with my fiio fh-9 iems.

Great interview! But problem is that binaural is not pretty cool, it is always worse than the stereo :( The binaural renderer makes everything mushy, soft and 2 dimensional. User stats is a testament to this - atmos listens of available titles is miniscule. As he says it is all readily available, but there is no user adaptation, which kind of speaks for itself.

I had the Cdm nt1 from a hundred years ago. The tweeter emerged from the top of the cabinet in its own housing, but not separately as it does on the 705 3 . I thought they were awesome speakers. Not bright or edgy in my room, nor terribly hard to drive. I think B&W can make great speakers. Thanks for the review.
